Each month VintageView likes to take time and honor one of our customers who does a superior job of bringing wine to life. For the month of April, we have selected Enoteca Della Santina, a wine bar, wine club, and wine shop located in Sonoma, California and owned by Rob Della Santina. Recently we had a chance to interview Rob and here's what he had to say:
Q: How long have you been in business?
A: In 1990, my family opened the doors to their restaurant in Sonoma called Della Santina’s Trattoria. We feature traditional Italian family recipes stemming from Lucca, Italy. Based on my belief that wine is an integral part of the meal to be enjoyed with food, I opened Enoteca Della Santina in 2007 as a way to proliferate my passion for international as well as domestic wines.
Q: What trends have your seen in the wine industry?
A: Well, I guess you could say I have been ahead of the curve since I have been in the heart of wine country selling international wines. AS a first generation Californian, my Tuscan heritage is definitely reflected in our 600 bottle selection. My mission with starting the wine club was to bring our cellar to your home.
Q: Do you receive any comments or feedback on your VintageView wine storage display?
A: Our guests always comment on the racks and the wines presentation. In fact, many have purchased VintageView for their private collections at home.
Q: Do you place your wine strategically on the wall or have a method as to how you display your bottles?
A: We organize our wine wall by the country of origin.
Q: What are some of your favorite wines that you offer?
A: My personal favorite is Brunello di Montalcino, the king of Tuscan wines! Another wine that’s great for the everyday wine drinker is Cote du Rhone Villages from the Rhone region of France.
