Ever wondered how a winemaker utilizes a wine room? We sat down with Paul Bonacquisiti of Bonacquisiti Wine Co. to discuss the importance of a well-structured wine room and how VintageView racks elevate both the aesthetic and functionality of his space.
Paul's winery in Northwest Denver opened in 2006 and was transformed with a 2016 remodel to expand the tasting bar for customers and upgrade the overall look and feel of the space. Reclaimed wood was used on the bar area, wine taps were installed to fill wine growlers, and VintageView's W Series Wine Racks created hundreds of bottles of easily accessibly storage for sales.
The winery also utilized the W Series Stemware Rack (the first ever installation using this product) to show off the tasting room glassware in a beautiful and easy-to-grab place.
And in 2023, Paul added a few Helix Wine Racks next to his record collection — making him the first client to use that rack as well!
VintageView: Can you share the story behind your wine room? What inspired the design and layout choices?
Paul Bonacquisti: Our wine room at Bonacquisti Wine Company reflects our urban winery vibe and roots in Denver's Sunnyside neighborhood. When designing it, we wanted a casual, inviting space that would feel welcoming, not intimidating — somewhere people could relax, learn, and enjoy good wine without pretension. The layout is open, which allows for an interactive experience with our wine barrels, tanks, and production equipment in view. In 2016, we remodeled the bar, adding the VintageView W Series Wine Rack and Stemware Rack. It really enhanced the look. These additions bring a polished, modern feel and showcase our bottles beautifully, almost like you’re hanging out in a friend’s wine cellar.
VV: As a winemaker, how important is it for you to have a well-structured wine room?
PB: A well-structured wine room is essential for me as a winemaker. It’s not just about storage; it’s about creating the right environment for wine to shine. I want our space to feel organized but also inviting, a place where our guests can see the journey from production to glass.
