The International Builders’ Show is the pinnacle of new design and building trends each year. After a much to long hiatus due to COVID, design pros were thrilled to seek out the latest and greatest the industry has to offer when the doors opened in February.
Outside of the debut of the Low Profile (the thinnest wine rack in the world), here is a look at the top five most eye-catching, informative, and downright remarkable finds from the show.
5. StruXure Outdoor’s Cabana
For projects that call for upscale backyard renovation, the Cabana X is the ultimate in outdoor living luxury. The Cabana X is a state-of-the-art system that consists of a 10’ by 10’ frame with pivoting roof louvers, allowing the structure to adjust for maximal shade with a click of a remote. In addition to all of the bells and whistles, the cabana is able to be fully customized with luxury color options and structural add-ons.
4. Kohler’s Room of Showers
Kohler has always been top of mind when it comes to luxury appliances. We had high expectations when visiting their booth, and the behemoth enclosure did not disappoint. Kohler is currently pushing sustainability in their new product lines and the ‘exhibit’ was an ode to saving water. When walking by the room of showers in the Kohler Experience, there were 15 different shower heads spouting out to create a stunning display.
Each shower head showcased a different model and finish, showing the versatility of their products and how simple it is to match with any hardware in the bathroom. All of the water was recycled through the display to stay true to their conservation efforts.
3. Smeg’s Designer Digs
A celebrity favorite, Smeg is known for collaborating with designer fashion brands to bring forth eccentric and evocative aesthetics to the kitchen. Crowds gathered to take pictures of this ornate Dolce and Gabbana appliance set worth more than $25,000! The three-piece appliance set comprised of a refrigerator, range, and hood was the talk of the show and had everyone fawning over the absurd attention to artistic detail.
2. Color(s) of the Year by Sherwin Williams
Color is one of the most important trends of any given year and Sherwin Williams has set the pace with its color forecast for 2022. Its incredibly knowledgeable team compiled a list of 40 colors to help take your designs to the next level. We love the variety presented, as a singular ‘color of the year’ doesn’t always apply to every singular project. Sherwin Williams segmented the 40 colors into four distinctive palettes, with use of moody neutrals to daring bold reds to calming sage green. We can even imagine some of these colors moving into the wine cellar!
1. Café Appliances Showcase
One word: Incredible. Café seeks to provide more design choices to the world of appliances. The luxury brand featured several fully furnished, impeccably designed kitchen spaces to show off the remarkable range their products have.
In one staging, you are greeted with a groovy midcentury aesthetic. The walls are adorned with a western-desert motif and the velvet bubble chairs harken back to something the Gibb brothers would have owned. This eccentric space, though bold, came together organically and the Café appliances only amplified the design choices, rather than distract from.
A room over, you are teleported to a different world. Emerald green and gold Art-Deco accents light up the kitchen masterfully designed in collaboration with world renowned designer, Iris Apfel. Café utilizes different appliance finishes and hardware to match the ‘Great Gatsby’ elegance that exuded from this space.
We could not help but feel a burst of inspiration while viewing these spaces; the only thing missing is a wine display!
